Last Saturday we had a day off. Our translator, Nobien, took Sam, Melissa and I out exploring. We went to a couple different places, Dhaks as a whole is HUGE! Sam meet a Korean girl on Friday at church so we went to go meet up with her. As we got outof our transportaion a street girl clatched onto Melissa, but we we were crossing the road so she had to let go. But the girl followed us. She grabbed onto my hand and smiled, I smiled back. Beggers here r so common, that u get nummbed to the fact that they're all around. But this girl was so. Ute and couldn't b more than 10 years old. I had Nobien translate, and I asked her were her parents were, and that I had no money to give her. She said her mom was sick and she didn't want any money, she just wanted go hang out with us. That broke heart, she just wanted to b loved and accepted. So I grabbed her hand and she came shopping with us! It was a while new world for her bc the store owners don't let street kids in, but since she was with me and I am white they didnt say anything. I bought her and I an ice cream cone while we waited for Sam's friend. We sat on the steps enjoying the simplicity of ice cream and teaching eachother words in our language. We continued to walk and we entered onestore and got to the second level and the store owner raised his voice and she turned with her head down and walked out. Anger rose inside of me, but it soon became deep sadness for the harsh reality of these childrens lives. The rejection they face on a daily bases! My heart breaks for these children, but there r so many it's overwhelming! it's comforting to know God loves all these children, even more than I do.
Our last day of ministry is tomorrow :(
