HEY EVERYONE!! it's been about a week, and what a week :) it's a lot colder here than we were expecting, but we're making the best of it, it'll feel more like christmas now! Here's just a break down of our days and things we've been doing:
MONDAY: we went to our first village to teach. everyone was so excited! well we thought we were gonna teach... we had an hour 1/2 ride, very nice and snugg in a van thing, and then we pulled up to this field and there were people standing all around and a band playing... we thought we were gonna drive by, but nope, we stopped right there! The band was for us!! it was like in a movie and so funny! so we walked to the village with a band and a group of people following us! and instead of teaching i guess we were there for a wedding reception!! and we were the honored guest! there is so many random things that r hard to describe but it was really funny, but really cool at the same time! so we got to this arch way and i was the first to walk through and they threw a ton load of flowers on us! and then we sat in this tent in the front and it seemed like millions of people ALL AROUND US!! so then our program got changed up a bit. so instead Sam preached the gospel and we did a skit about the Cross and Jesus!! so cool! and we got to pray and bless the married couple and then there was a lot of other cultural things we were a part of. but this is outreach and things usually don't end up being the way you think, and i love it!!
TUESDAY: We really got to teach this day. 3 of the students taught. and then the girls did our hula that we learned. and it was so funny b/c our crowd was, people, chickens, and cows! Then we ate lunch there, and then went and did house visits and prayed for this little boy and his mom. He had something wrong with his eyes that happened sometimes, and the mom took him to a witch doctor! so we prayed over the boy and our translator was talking to her about not to take him there anymore, but to come to the pastor that lives here... it was really cool!
WED: we got to teach again at a different place. We split up and did a kid's ministry too with 150 kids!! the teaching went really good and we had some good descusion at the end! and that night the ladies that cook us dinner made us French Fries, Crepes, and ice cream!!! it's the only american things they knew how to make but it was so fun!! some of the girls were screaming w/ excitment! the food has been good here, lots of rice and spicy curry! but it ws fun to get this surprise!
THURSDAY: We did a womens ministry. i got to teach. there were about 20 women, 2 of them single, the rest with families. it was such a good time just to encourage them and asnwer quesions and ... i don't know. it really hit me about just how hard it must be for them in a muslim country to be strong women in christ. then the rest of the day we played with the kids that go to the school in the compound we live in.
FRIDAY: we did an english youth bible study. 15 or so youth from 17-20. we taught them a english song "our God is an awesome God" and then played a game and taught a parable of Jesus and had them act out the good samaritan in english, it was soo good! they love drama's here!
TODAY: is our day off, and one of our bangali friend took the girls shopping to get another outfit that we wear here. it was fun. and we're getting secret santa gifts, but it's a little interesting because we're not really in the city, so i think we're all gonna be giving food! hahahhaha
I LOVE YOU ALL!! and if i don't talk to anyone before, MERRY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY NEW YEAR!
